Features

When the Sound-Proof 2000 add-in is installed in Excel, you'll have access to a new toolbar, shown below

Sound-Proof AE Toolbar

Just select the cells that you want to read, then click the Read Cells button (or press Alt+S). A Microsoft Agent character will appear, and it will read the contents of the selected cells. Alternatively, you can select Immediate mode. When this mode is in effect, cells are read back when data is entered or changed in any cell.

Unlike other products that can read the contents of Excel cells, Sound-Proof 2000 was designed specifically for Excel. Therefore it "understands"  how to handle various types of cell content. In addition, it offers many options, so you can fine-tune the voice and output style to your liking. Online help is included.

Cells are read back using natural language format. For example, 154.78 is read as "One hundred fifty-four point seven eight." Date values are read as actual dates (for example, "June fourteen, nineteen ninety-eight") and time values are read as actual times (for example, "Six forty-five AM").

Sound-Proof 2000 options

Sound-Proof 2000 has two operational modes:

  • Standard: Select a range of cells, and the contents are read to you.

  • Immediate: Enter data into a cell (or edit a cell) and the cell is read to you immediately.

Sound-Proof has many options that you can adjust. Click the Options button to display the Options dialog box. The Screen Shots page shows the available options.

About the technology
