Errata

Ideally, I would like every book that I write to be completely accurate and error-free. The nature of the publishing industry makes this a difficult goal to achieve. However, I assume complete responsibility for the content of my books. Listed below are known errors in my Excel for Windows 95 Bible. If you discover additional errors, please let me know.

NOTE: Some of these errors were corrected in subsequent printings of the book.


  • Page 38:
    The heading should read "Changing your video display resolution"
  • Page 55:
    The cell references in Step 7 should read "C2, D2 and E2".
  • Page 111:
    There is a typo in second sentence. It should read: "This chapter..."
  • Page 160:
    The cell's fill handle is at the lower right of the selection, not the lower left.
  • Page 169:
    Cell B1 in Figure 8-14 should contain 110%, not 10%
  • Page 179:
    Cell A3 in Figure 9-1 should contain Expenses, not Deductions
  • Page 280:
    In the second bullet point under "Print," it states that Excel doesn't print the cell references for cell notes. In fact, cell notes can be printed with their cell references. In the Sheet tab of the Page Setup dialog box, select both the Notes check box and the Row and Column Headings check box.
  • Page 351:
    The second paragraph should read: "... for printing non-contiguous ranges."
  • Page 402:
    The second paragraph should read "... the data beginning in the row that contains the cell pointer."
  • Page 454:
    In the formula shown in Figure 19-4, substitute B2 for B1
  • Page 465:
    In Figure 20-4, the value displayed in cell D1 should be 2.08 (not 0.644444).
  • Page 474:
    The heading should read: "Summing every nth cell in a range"
  • Page 524:
    In Table 23-1, remove the right square bracket from the last line of the table.
  • Page 571:
    In the third paragraph, change A6:A7 to A4:A5.
  • Page 576:
    In Step 7, change the second-to-last sentence to: "If you would like the pivot table to provide a count rather than a sum, double-click on the ..."
  • Page 586:
    In Figure 26-1. The last formula should be: =Total_Payments-Loan_Amount
  • Page 594:
    In the paragraph headed Printing costs per unit, the printing costs should be $.20, $.15, and $.10 - not $.20, $.20, and $.15.
  • Page 608:
    In the first paragraph, the second sentence should read "... enter =A1^2 into cell A2."
  • Page 738:
    In Figure 33-11. The figure caption should read, "Selecting a name transfers the data..."
  • Page 803:
    In Figure 36-15. The range name in the Cell Link edit box should be SelectedMonthIndex (not SelectedMonthName).
