Factoids

  • The Spreadsheet Page first appeared on the World Wide Web in February, 1996.
  • The site contains about 1,067 files.
  • This Web site is hosted by Fluid Hosting.
  • Currently, the site gets 6,000-8,000 unique visitors each day.
  • The pages at this site were created with Microsoft FrontPage.

Objectives of this site

The Spreadsheet Page has undergone many changes, but the objectives have remained the same:

  • Provide a central source for information about Microsoft Excel.
When this web site was first created, it focused on spreadsheets of all types. Currently, the focus is Microsoft Excel. That's because Excel owns the spreadsheet market and is (IMHO) the only spreadsheet product that's suitable for advanced application development.
  • Emphasize content, not flash.
You won't find any pop-up windows or advertising banners here, and the only products that are pitched are my own software and books -- and I try to keep the hype to a minimum. You'll find lots of good (and free) information here, yours for the taking.
  • Keep it simple.
I've avoided bandwidth-eating features such as huge graphics and multimedia, and you'll never need to download any ActiveX controls or plug-ins in order to access the information here (well, there is one exception in the jokes section). I've also avoided the use of frames, since many users included find them annoying. And, clicking a link will hardly ever open a new instance of your browser (if it does, you'll know in advance).
  • Keep it fresh.
I try to add a steady flow of new information to the site. Since J-Walk & Associates is a very small company, the updates aren't as frequent as the larger sites. But I try to add new material every 7-10 days. At least I used to.

Problems?

I've tested all of the pages using Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox. If your browser has any problems with this site, please let me know.
